Pop star, 2baba Idibia has cancelled the planned protests scheduled that was scheduled to hold tomorrow, February 6.

The planned protest had generated so much attention in recent weeks with a lot of support from different quarters. But it seems the singer has bowed to pressure as he stated that he decided to cancel the protest because some intended to use his platform for their personal interests, which is not what he has planned. It is for this reason therefore that he is cancelling the march.

“After due consultations, it has become clear that the One Voice Nigerian protest scheduled to hold in Lagos, Abuja on Monday 6, February, is under serious threat of hijack by interests not aligned with our ideals,” he said.

The march had drawn massive attention nationwide, with opposition factions planning to hold a pro-Buhari march on same day. At first, the Lagos State Police Command banned the protests due to security concerns but finally agreed to provide security. However, 2baba feels he can’t continue with the protest which he says is under threat.

He feels that the government has seen the wide support that march garnered and is “convinced that our voices has been heard“.
